The Journey Station 14

Jesus is placed in the tomb

“Joseph of Arimathea bought some linen cloth, took down the body, wrapped it in the linen, and placed it in a tomb cut out of rock.
Then he rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb. Mark 15 v 42, 47

Reflecting on the painting and
Your Journey through life

  1. At 33, Jesus was relatively young when he died and the premature death of a loved one accentuates the pain of grief that accompanies all bereavement.
  2. Take a moment to imagine Jesus, a loved one, or someone else as the faceless figure in the painting – someone who has passed away. Who is in the painting for you? What does it make you think or feel?

  2. ‘Say not in grief ‘he is no more’ but in thankfulness that he was.’  Proverb

Wisdom to support you
on Your Journey

‘We cannot judge a biography by its length. Nor by the number of pages in it. We must judge it by the richness of its contents. We cannot judge a song by its duration. Nor by the number of its notes. We must judge it by the way it touches and lifts our souls. Sometimes those works unfinished are among the most beautiful.’
